The International Maritime Organization
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) - is a specialised inter-governmental agency of the United Nations.
IMO's activity is aimed at eliminating discriminatory practices affecting international merchant shipping, as well as the adoption of norms (standards) for ensuring maritime safety and the prevention of environmental,especially marine pollution from ships.
Ukraine is an IMO’s member in accordance with the resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine 04.02.1994 No. 3938-XII “On the Adoption of the Convention on the International Maritime Organization of 1948, in 1982 edition”.
