UN Economic Commission for Europe
The UN Economic Commission for Europe is one of the five United Nations regional commissions.
It was founded in 1947 by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in order to develop economic activity and strengthen economic ties within the UNECE region and between this region and the rest of the world.
The main areas of UNECE activities are:
- Environment;
- Transport;
- Statistics;
- Sustainable Energy;
- Trade;
- Forests;
- Housing and Land Use;
- Population;
- Economic Cooperation and Integration.
Ukraine, as the USSR state succession, is a member of the UNECE since March 28, 1947.
